Include the message and the link
Paste the complete message, including any visible URL. If you have a screenshot, upload it and review the extracted text for mistakes. Remove personal details you do not need assessed.
A familiar profile image or display name can be copied. The advisor can flag the structure and wording of a request; it cannot establish ownership of a WhatsApp account or phone number.
Verify a request from someone you know
Unexpected requests for money or security codes deserve a separate conversation. Contact the person using a number already in your records. If a message claims they have changed numbers, verify that change through the old contact route or another established channel.
- Avoid forwarding a security code or password.
- Check a delivery or account issue by opening the official app yourself.
- Review the exact host in any link.
- Keep the conversation if money or personal information was involved.
Calls and voicemail
For a phone check, include a transcript or summary of what the caller said. Caller ID can be misleading. A country code or local looking number does not establish who is calling.

Can a local phone number be used in a scam?
Yes. Verify the request and the person through an established contact route, regardless of how familiar the number looks.
