Check the request through an official channel
If a message claims to come from a bank, government service, delivery company or employer, open the official website or app yourself. Use a phone number from an established record when calling to verify a request.
The checker can examine submitted content and available technical signals. It does not replace a bank’s account verification or a police investigation.
Reporting a suspected incident
TT CSIRT publishes local advisories and an incident reporting route. Use its current official website for instructions. If money or bank information is involved, contact your financial institution promptly through its official channel. Preserve the message and transaction details.
- Keep the original message, link and screenshots.
- Record the date, payment reference and requested action.
- Contact the affected service or bank independently.
- Use the current official reporting instructions.
Business and property transactions
Verify supplier payment changes through an established contact. For property transactions, confirm the person’s authority and the written terms before paying. A familiar business name can be impersonated in an advert or message.
