Question the fee and the authority

Recovery scammers may claim to be investigators, officials or specialists and ask for an advance payment. A badge image, case number or testimonial can be fabricated. Find the named organisation independently and confirm the person and service.

A promise of guaranteed recovery is a reason to pause. Ask your original payment provider what options are available for the transaction and keep its response.

Keep the new approach with the original evidence

Save the recovery message, payment instructions, contact details and claimed case reference. Submit a redacted copy to the checker. DSDillon Scam Advisor does not recover funds, negotiate a refund or forward a report to authorities.

1. Confirm the person through the organisation’s established contact.
2. Verify the proposed fee and written terms.
3. Avoid sharing passwords, wallet secrets or security codes.
4. Preserve both the original incident and the recovery approach.

Contact the payment provider promptly. Explain the original loss and the new payment as separate events. Preserve the correspondence and report through the appropriate official channel.
