Verify the support request
Unexpected calls and pop-ups may claim your device is infected and ask you to install software, grant remote access or pay for a repair. Avoid calling a number supplied by the warning. Verify the issue through support you chose independently.
A browser warning that displays a phone number is not evidence that someone has scanned the whole device. Keep the wording or a screenshot so an administrator can assess it.
Check without installing anything
Paste the warning or call transcript into the advisor. You can upload a screenshot after removing personal details. The checker does not scan your computer, connect remotely or install a repair tool.
- Avoid granting access from an unexpected request.
- Contact your established IT support.
- Record the program names and actions requested.
- Use a trusted device to secure sensitive accounts if compromise is suspected.
If you already allowed remote access
End the session and ask your IT administrator to assess the device. Tell them what was installed and what accounts were opened. If payment details or banking access were involved, contact the financial institution through its official route.
